Swiss horn player, pianist, composer and conductor Christophe Sturzenegger enjoys an international career combining performance, composition and teaching.

A professor at the Geneva University of Music, he has also served as Artistic Director of the Geneva Brass Festival since 2010.

Biography

Horn player, pianist, composer and conductor, Christophe Sturzenegger has built a distinguished international career that bridges performance, composition and musical education. His artistic path has taken him from leading European orchestral institutions to festivals around the world, while maintaining a strong commitment to creativity and mentorship.

A former member of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, he worked with the Zurich Opera Academy and the Basel Symphony Orchestra before pursuing a successful career as a freelance musician and chamber performer. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned conductors including Claudio Abbado, James Levine, Nello Santi, Sir Neville Marriner, Christoph von Dohnányi and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Awarded several major prizes and scholarships, including the Ernst Göhner (Migros) Scholarship and the Kiefer-Hablitzel Prize, he is active as a pianist, composer and conductor. His works have been commissioned and performed by leading ensembles and orchestras in Switzerland and abroad, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de Normandie and the Ensemble Symphonique de Neuchâtel.

Since 2003, he has been a professor at the Geneva University of Music. He performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and recital artist and appears at festivals across Europe, Canada, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. Since 2010, he has also served as Artistic Director of the Geneva Brass Festival.
