MYKOLA DIADIURA
Conductor
Mykola Diadiura is one of Ukraine’s foremost conductors, a People’s Artist of Ukraine and laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize, known for his artistic depth and authoritative musical voice. His early international recognition came in 1990, when Seiji Ozawa invited him to an artistic residency with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where he worked under Leonard Bernstein and André Previn.
He currently serves as Principal Conductor and Music Director of the National Opera of Ukraine and as Artistic Director of the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Distinguished for his structural clarity, stylistic versatility and strong theatrical instinct, Diadiura performs widely across Europe and Asia and is a prizewinner of major conducting competitions in Tokyo and Budapest.
Biografie
Mykola Diadiura graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, where he studied conducting with Roman Kofman, and in 1990 completed an artistic residency with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, working under Leonard Bernstein and André Previn at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa.
Since 1988 he has been associated with the National Opera of Ukraine, later becoming its Music Director and Principal Conductor. He oversees one of the most extensive opera and ballet repertoires in Ukraine, encompassing more than forty productions and spanning the core works of Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, as well as major ballets by Ravel, de Falla and Respighi.
Since 1996 he has served as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, where he introduced landmark symphonic cycles and led significant Ukrainian premieres of major symphonic works. He collaborates regularly with orchestras in Italy, Poland, South Korea and Japan and appears at leading festivals throughout Europe and Ukraine.
Mykola Diadiura is a laureate of the Min-On International Conductors Competition and the J. Ferencsik Conducting Competition in Budapest, and a recipient of the Japan Conductors Association Special Prize (Tokyo).
He has been distinguished with the Order of Merit of Ukraine, the French Order of Arts and Letters, and the Taras Shevchenko National Prize.
