Biography
After studying Media Arts at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland in Aarau, Eva Borner developed a distinctive artistic practice at the intersection of installation, video, photography and media art. The notion of the “presence of absence” forms a central thread throughout her work, informing her exploration of perception, memory and reality.
Through photography, video, sound sculptures, text-based works and immersive multimedia installations, she creates environments of strong poetic and emotional intensity. Drawing on both personal experience and contemporary social and political issues, she transforms complex ideas into visual and acoustic spaces. The relationship between technology, artistic language and sensory experience lies at the heart of her practice.
Interdisciplinary collaboration plays a central role in her work. She regularly develops projects with artists from music, film, literature and dance, creating dialogues between image, sound, movement and space.
Her works have been presented in numerous exhibitions and artistic contexts in Switzerland and abroad. Important milestones in her career include residencies in Shanghai, Paris, Thessaloniki and Leipzig. Recipient of the Valiart Media Art Prize and several grants from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, her work is represented in public and private collections, including FRAC Alsace and the Christoph Merian Foundation in Basel.
