Varvara Kutuzova is one of the most compelling young pianists of her generation, recognized for the depth of her interpretations, the maturity of her musical thinking and a striking freedom on stage. Born in Arkhangelsk, she made an early international debut, first appearing with orchestra and soon after in recital. A significant milestone in her artistic development was her participation in the Verbier Solo Academy, where she worked with leading masters of the European piano tradition.
Varvara performs on major stages in Moscow and tours extensively across Russia, Europe, China, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Kazakhstan and Armenia. She has appeared at festivals such as Annecy Classic (France), ArtDialog (Switzerland), Crescendo, “Christmas Meetings”, and numerous festivals in France, Portugal, Turkey and Switzerland.
Biography
As a soloist, she has performed with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Moscow Virtuosi, the symphony orchestras of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, “New Russia”, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and many others. Her collaborators include conductors Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Dimitris Botinis, Denis Vlasenko, Mikhail Gantvarg and more.
She is a laureate of Prima Artists, Astana Piano Passion, Nota Bene!, Grand Piano Competition, as well as Grand Prix winner of online competitions in Mexico and Serbia.
Varvara received her initial training at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory with Mira Marchenko, and later continued her studies at the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music under Mikhail Khokhlov. She is a scholarship recipient of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, New Names, and the Valery Zolotukhin Foundation.
